Joshua is a pianist, teacher, and composer based in the Omaha, Nebraska area. He is an active performer, collaborating with various different musicians, flexible in a variety of styles and genres. He has a Bachelor’s of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Nebraska Omaha. Whether you are looking for a collaborative pianist for a chamber ensemble or a keyboard player for your funk band, Joshua is a versatile musician with an flexible skill set for both the traditional and contemporary music scenes.
As well as an avid performer, Joshua is a music educator who strives to share the gift of music with students of all ages. Joshua has a growing studio with a dedication to educating students to be balanced musicians in aural skills, score reading, technique, improvisation, music theory, and to be well-versed in a variety of genres, styles, and eras of music. Joshua has experience teaching privately, assisting in group piano classes, and participating in pedagogical conferences and lectures. He has also done group research on “Practice Methods and Their Effectiveness” for music students through his involvement with the Collegiate Music Teachers Association chapter at UNO. The chapter’s research was presented by Joshua and his colleagues at the 2023 Music Teachers National Association Conference in Reno, Nevada.
Notable highlights of solo performance include 1st place in Maverick Piano Fest Competition; 3rd Prize, Piano Age Group 18-20, Charleston International 2023 20th Century Music Competition; 2nd Prize, Piano Age Group 17-19, Charleston International 2022 Winter Music Competition; Finalist, Iowa Music Teachers Association State Auditions; Alternate Winner, Nebraska Music Teachers Association Collegiate Performance Competition; Winner, SWIMTA District Auditions, Iowa Music Teachers Association. In addition, Joshua has participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned pianists Emanuel Ax, HieYon Choi, Gregory Crowell, and many other highly regarded artists. In the summer of 2023 and 2024, he participated in the 3-Week Traditional Session at Adamant Music School in Vermont, where he studied with Robert Henry from Kennesaw State University (2023) and Roberta Rust from Lynn University Conservatory of Music (2024).
